“Best” depends on your house, not on a brand name. We have been making ceiling fans in Gujrat since 1968, and this is the advice we give customers who call the factory: first decide what type of fan you need, then check four things before you pay.

Step 1 – Choose the type of ceiling fan

Type Best for Power use UPS / solar Al Riaz models
Inverter (DC motor) The lowest electricity bill and long hours of use About 30 W Much longer backup on a home UPS; remote included Musa Inverter 30 W, Lahore Model Inverter
AC-DC / solar Load shedding, battery or solar panel Low when running on DC Runs on normal electricity and on a DC battery or solar panel; remote included Lahore Model AC-DC, Musa AC-DC, Icon AC-DC, Ravi AC-DC
Standard AC The lowest price on a steady supply Highest of the three Works on a UPS, but the backup is shorter; uses a normal regulator Lahore Model, New Model, Passion, Water Proof

Step 2 – What it means for your electricity bill

An example only – check the unit rate on your own bill. A fan running 12 hours a day for 30 days:

  • A typical 56-inch AC fan at around 75 W uses about 27 units a month.
  • A 30 W inverter fan uses about 11 units a month.
  • The difference is about 16 units per fan, per month. At Rs 50 a unit that is roughly Rs 800 per fan every month – a house with five fans saves around Rs 4,000 a month in summer.

Step 3 – Four things to check before you buy

  1. Copper winding – copper motors run cooler and last longer than aluminium.
  2. Motor slots – an 18-slot motor runs smoother and quieter than a 12-slot motor. All Al Riaz ceiling fans use 18-slot motors except the budget Ravi, which has a 12-slot motor.
  3. Warranty in writing – ask how long, and whether it covers the motor, the PCB kit (on inverter and AC-DC fans), or both. Al Riaz gives 1 year on the motor and 1 year on the PCB kit.
  4. Buy from the maker or an authorised dealer – copies of well-known brands are common. Check the name plate, the packing and the seller. Al Riaz has no branch or factory outside Gujrat.
